Whats For Dinner Next Week 6-30-13

We have had the most awesome weekend with family and friends attending our Granddaughter Lauren's Wedding.  Congratulations to Lauren and Corbin, we are so happy for you!  We will spend the biggest part of this week with family and getting ready for our 4th of July celebration in our community.  We have the best 4th Celebration in our little community with a parade, bake sale, and lots of fun activities and just a lot of visiting under the big Oak Trees and around the lake. Creamy Blueberry Bars

The Blueberries have just been beautiful this year and I just love trying new recipes for the fresh berries.  This is a great little bar with great flavor and a real creamy texture with a cookie like crust.  We have really enjoyed this little dessert and hope you do. Creamy Blueberry Bars Creamy Blueberry Bar Miz Helen's Kitchen Ingredients 1 1/4 cups plus 2 tablespoons all purpose flour 1 cup quick cooking oats 1 2/3 cups sugar 3/4 teaspoon baking powder 2/3 cup salted butter, melted 2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese, softened 4 large eggs 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract 2 1/4 cups fresh blueberries Garnish with Confectioner's Sugar and Fresh Berries Directions Spray a 9X13 inch baking dish with nonstick baking spray with flour, set aside In a large bowl, toss together 1 1/4 cups flour, oats and 2/3 cup sugar, baking and butter.  Lightly press flour mixture into the bottom of prepared baking dish Bake a

June 2013 Garden Tour

The Garden is just beautiful right now with the vegetable harvest beginning and some beautiful blooms on the herbs, fruits and vegetables.  Fennel Blooms 250 Onions Were Planted In Mid January Of Course Max Is Helping With The Harvest The Onions Have Been Dried and Tied In Bunches and Hanging In Rows In The Barn When The Weather Begins To Get Cold The Remainder Of The Onions Will Be Put In Cold Bins In The Barn Digging Potatoes Is Like Opening Little Gifts You Never Know How Many There Are or  How Big They Will Be These Potatoes Smell So Good An Antique No. 3 Wash Tub Full Of Wonderful Potatoes The Green Beans Are Awesome and Most Are Headed For The Canning Jars Except What We Eat and Give Away Of Course The Tomato Vines Are Just Loaded They Are Delicious We Will Have Lots Of Salsa, Canned Tomatoes and Tomato Sauce The Purple Cabbage Is Almost Ready and The Collards Have Been Heavenly These Blackberries Will Be

We live in the country and have to keep a very well stocked pantry and freezer because we can't always run down to Whole Foods or Central Market to pick up those special foods to make that special meal when company calls and will be stopping by.   This recipe was developed one day when my husband came home and said that he had invited some friends for dinner, now that was like 4:00 p.m., think fast what can I do to make a special appetizer?
