Full Plate Thursday Background Story
When we were young and just starting out in life sometimes we did not have a lot of money. Most of our friends were having to stretch the dollars at the end of the month just like us. My girlfriends and I decided that we would pool our food for some of the evening meals right before payday... the last week of the month. I have some of the fondest memories from those days. We would all bring our food together and we had some great food and great fellowship. We would get the food on the table and everything ready, someone would bless the food and then the hostess would say "come fill your plate".
I have just a few suggestions before you leave your dish and fill your plate.
  • Link directly to your recipe and not to your web page
  • Scroll down to the button that says "click here to enter"
  • You will be asked to give your URL ( which will be your direct link to your post), the name of your recipe, and your email which we will not be able to see.
  • Then you will be asked to select a thumbnail from your post that will be uploaded to your entry.
  • Please include a link back to Full Plate Thursday, somewhere on your post. We will give you a gentle reminder if you forget...
  • Please leave me a comment before you leave the page and let me know that you are here, I want to be a good hostess.
  • Don't forget to visit with all the others, after all that is part of the fellowship that makes it so much fun, in addition to all the good food of course...
  • Grab The Full Plate Button if you like and take it home with you.
  • Now God Bless you and your food and everyone fill your plate!

  9. I have thought and thought about your opening paragraph- how even tho it was a time of tight means, those early days are some of your favorite memories! We are in Scotland for my husband to do a PhD and while we both have part-time jobs, he's not engineering any more! We and 2 other couples swap every Sunday night and put together a nice Sunday dinner. I never would have imagined such fun friends abroad or the great times we are having! I have shared your comment with them and we agree that we will really miss these days, even when we have our homes again and real pay checks! Sop, thank you for that perspective- it's not often that a blog makes me stop and think. ;)
    Also, thanks so much for featuring my lemony chicken saltimbocca! As soon as I figure out how to add your button, I sure will!
    Give Dallas (my home town1) all my love-

    Miss Mommy {Emily}

  16. Thank you for featuring my soup from last week -- I'm so glad you liked it!

    This week I've brought a Corn, Tomato, Celery and Onion Salad (it could also be a side dish). On wintry days I don't always want to go shopping for fresh salad fixings, but I usually have the makings of this in my refrigerator/pantry.

  24. I have so many fond memories of cooking to keep the wolf away when I was young and sharing dig in NYC. We would often do impromptu dinners. Those who could cook did and those who couldn't bought! I was just learning to cook then and sometimes my entries left much to be desired... then we were all grateful that there was pizza nearby! Thanks for stopping by my blog!
